MAKE IT FIT YOUR GROUP

Coach the players in front of you.

Ages 9–11

Keep markers close and adjust them per child; a three-point line is not a required spot.

Ages 12–14

Add a controlled approach to the catch only if range and legal footwork remain sound.

Work & rest
Five attempts, then recover while passing or rebounding; pause after every player has shot.
Look for success
Every player gets the same number of attempts and can repeat balanced shots at an appropriate range.
Players

3 per basket: shooter, rebounder and passer

Equipment

One basketball, Basket, Five floor markers

Space

Five comfortable shooting spots around one basket

Set it up

Mark five spots at distances each shooter can reach comfortably. One shoots, one rebounds and one passes from outside the landing path. Set a short round of one attempt at each spot.

Run the activity

  1. The shooter takes one balanced attempt at each marker, waiting until the rebounder clears the landing area before the next shot.
  2. The rebounder controls the ball and sends it to the passer, who returns a catchable feed to the next spot.
  3. Rotate after five attempts so every player shoots. Keep a shared total and also name one balanced attempt for each shooter.
  4. Rest and repeat one round against the team’s own first total. Bring a marker closer whenever reaching it damages the release.
ONE CUE TO SAY OUT LOUD

“Good range. Ready feet. Help the next shooter.”

Watch for this

Using the same distant markers for everyone or rushing shots to beat another group’s score.

Make it easier

Use three close spots and allow a full catch-and-set pause.

Add a challenge

Vary the approach to a spot while keeping the same personal shooting range and five-attempt turn.
