Passing / 6 MINUTES
Meet, exchange, go
Execute clean, secure handoffs without fumbles, illegal contact, or moving into the partner's path.
ON THE FLOOR
Partner / station setupMotion is off with your reduced-motion preference. The setup and action paths show the rep.
Pairs: 2–12 players
1 basketball per pair, 2 cones per pair
Half court or full court sideline space
Set it up
Place pairs along the sideline, each pair with one ball and two cones set 15 feet apart. Partner A starts with the ball at cone 1, Partner B waits at cone 2.
Run the activity
- Begin with a stationary giver holding the ball securely at chest level. The receiver approaches beside the giver, leaving separate body space.
- The receiver takes the ball with two hands, then begins a controlled dribble to the far cone. The giver stays still during the exchange and does not lean into the receiver.
- Progress to the giver dribbling toward the meeting point, stopping under control before the exchange. Keep eyes up and avoid contact.
- Switch giver and receiver after each rep. Run multiple pairs only when each has its own clear lane.
“Stop feet, hand the gift, snatch and go!”
Watch for this
The ball giver keeps moving forward or reaches into the receiver, causing collisions or moving screen violations.
Make it easier
Perform the handoff completely stationary from a triple-threat stance before adding a lead-in dribble.
Add a challenge
Add light trailing pressure behind the receiver so they must protect the ball immediately upon receiving the handoff.
