MAKE IT FIT YOUR GROUP

Coach the players in front of you.

Ages 6–8

Walk the whole trip and use a short pass. Praise shared clean deliveries.

Ages 9–11

Add a gentle jog only if the stop and pass remain controlled; no racing another pair.

Work & rest
Four shared deliveries, then a relaxed pause; the outside walk-back also provides recovery.
Look for success
Every trip finishes with a balanced stop and a catchable pass while the lane stays clear.
Players

2 partners with separate outward and return paths

Equipment

One suitable ball, Four lane markers

Space

A short broad lane with an outside walk-back path

Set it up

One partner starts with the ball and the other waits at a receiving station. Mark a short dribbling lane and a separate outside return route. Set a shared goal of tidy deliveries rather than speed.

Run the activity

  1. The first partner walks or gently jogs the ball toward the receiver, stopping the dribble at a marked passing point with space to spare.
  2. Pass to the waiting partner, then walk outside the lane back to the original receiving station.
  3. The new ball handler waits until the lane is clear, then makes the return trip and delivery.
  4. After four total deliveries, both rest and review the stops and passes. Move the stations closer if technique fades.
ONE CUE TO SAY OUT LOUD

“Clear lane. Stop. Deliver.”

Watch for this

Starting the return trip before the first partner has left the dribbling lane.

Make it easier

Use a shorter walk and a coach as the receiver.

Add a challenge

Allow a gentle jog into the stop; keep the outside walk-back and the pause after four deliveries.
