Motion is off with your reduced-motion preference. The setup and action paths show the rep.

MAKE IT FIT YOUR GROUP

Coach the players in front of you.

Ages 6–8

Show the separate play and reset phases clearly. Use floor beanbags, personal lanes and no elimination or stealing.

Work & rest
Two short trips per child, then a group counting break and a fresh start.
Look for success
Each child controls the outward dribble, ends the rep before collecting and contributes to the shared goal.
Players

2 or more, each with a separate dribble lane

Equipment

One suitable ball per mover, Soft beanbags, Flat lane and home markers

Space

Separate short lanes with a treasure station and a home station

Set it up

Give each mover a lane with soft beanbags at one end and home at the other. The group shares one collection goal. Players never steal from one another or grab objects from clothing.

Run the activity

  1. Dribble gently toward the treasure station, then stop and gather the basketball under control. That ends the dribbling rep.
  2. With the ball safely held, pick up one beanbag and walk outside the lane to deliver it home. This return is a reset, not a live basketball possession.
  3. Put the beanbag down, settle at home and begin a fresh dribbling rep only when the lane is clear.
  4. After two trips each, pause, count the shared treasure and encourage one teammate. Repeat a relaxed round if everyone is ready.
ONE CUE TO SAY OUT LOUD

“Dribble, gather, then collect.”

Watch for this

Trying to scoop a beanbag while dribbling or treating the ball-held walk-back as legal game footwork.

Make it easier

Use a very short walking dribble and let an adult handle the beanbag after the gather.

Add a challenge

Add one wide turn on the outward dribble while preserving the separate gather and walk-back reset.
