Players

Pairs

Equipment

1 basketball per player, 4 cones

Space

Half court area

Set it up

Use four cones to make two parallel lanes 20 feet long with at least 6 feet between them. One partner and one ball start in each lane.

Run the activity

  1. Dribble slowly to the far cone with the less-used hand, keeping the ball below waist height and looking ahead.
  2. At the cone, stop under control and hold the ball with two hands. Wait until the lane is clear.
  3. Turn to face the starting cone and dribble back with the same hand. Partners stay in their own lanes.
  4. Repeat for 30 seconds, rest briefly, and share one cue before starting again.
ONE CUE TO SAY OUT LOUD

“Eyes up. Keep it close.”

Watch for this

Dribbler switches the ball back to their strong hand as soon as they feel rushed or need to change direction.

Make it easier

Start with a stationary dribble in the less-used hand, then walk five steps before stopping.

Add a challenge

Have a partner stand safely beside the lane and flash fingers. Call out the number while keeping the dribble controlled.
